TWO TITLE FIGHTS ANCHOR FALLON FIGHTS’ RURAL RUMBLE AUGUST 27
The ninth annual Fallon Fights ‘Rural Rumble’ returns with two regional title fights and two nationally televised bouts at the Fallon Fairgrounds, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m.
Reno’s Oscar “Chapito” Vasquez (10-1, 2 KOs) fights for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas Light Flyweight Championship against Puerto Rico’s Janiel Rivera (14-2-3, 8 KOs) in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds, one of eight scheduled fights in the outdoor arena.
“The lights, cameras and sound all add to the experience and pageantry of the event,” said Jane Moon, Director of Tourism and Special Events for the City of Fallon. “One can only understand the personality and fighting style of Vasquez by seeing it live.”
UniMas will televise the North American Boxing Organization (NABO) Featherweight Championship beginning at 8 p.m. between Guy Robb (18-1, 8 KOs) from Sacramento, Calif. and Miguel Marriaga (23-1, 19 KOs) from Cartenga, Columbia. UniMas will also televise the Lightweight fight between Jose Felix, Jr. (33-1-1, 25 KOs) of Los Mochis, Mexico and journeyman Rob Frankel (34-16-1, 7 KOs) from Denver, Colo.
“We hope to see a large showing of fans from Sacramento who support the popular Guy Robb,” said Moon. “And Oscar Vasquez’ fight won’t be televised on UniMas. You’ll want to come to Fallon to see Oscar fight for the NABF Light Flyweight title.”
The public is invited to see the weigh-ins at the Fallon Convention Center, Friday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m., with a with a chance to win a free ticket to the Fallon Fights.
